Reimbursement of medical expenses abroad
On the website of CVZ (Health Care Insurance Board) it is indicated that the coverage of the basic insurance is not limited to only the Netherlands, but is also valid for non-emergency care abroad. The amount of compensation is limited to the rates which are common in the Netherlands. In general, we advise to first obtain the approval of your health care provider. Prior to this, the client is given a written statement of the expenses, which can be submitted to the health care provider.
Reimbursement Da Vinci surgery
The Da Vinci surgery includes the following as standard: overnight stays, extensive physiotherapy program and Dutch-speaking assistance during the preliminary interview and during your stay at the clinic. The expenses of these (starting at €10.042-) will be (partially) reimbursed by your health care provider.
Depending on the type of insurance and policy terms, you may be eligible for additional services such as a guaranteed treatment by one of the chief surgeons (together they have performed 7,500 Da Vinci operations) or a single or double room. If your insurance does not cover these expenses, you will always be able to add these services for a small additional fee. You can contact our nursing staff to find out which reimbursement and additional services you qualify for.
Important patient information concerning your reimbursement
If you would like to be well insured for medical expenses next year, we advise you to be well informed by your insurer and/or intermediary. Most Dutch insurers work with two types of policies, the contracted care policy (naturapolis) and the non-contracted care policy (restitutiepolis).
With a contracted care policy you may be severely restricted in the choice of hospital and/or other health care providers. If you have a non-contracted policy, you can choose for a particular hospital and/or health care provider. In most cases, you will be compensated for the full amount. Ask our nursing staff for more information.-
